Talks by Jo Hall
Thursday 14th August
12:10pm
"Mud, Mirrors and Threads"
"Come with me on a colourful and tactile textile journey from Old Delhi, through Rajasthan, to far flung corners of the Thar desert. Taking a good look at my personal collection of Indian Textiles, I'll be focusing in this talk on how things are made. Hear about the man who carves the blocks, unravel some of the age old block printing processes - unpick the tie dye - study up close the exquisite hand embroidery of rural Rajasthan. Hear the back story of some of our garment manufacturing, find out more about how your clothes are made!"
Thursday 21st August
12:10pm
"Travels, Textiles and Tribulations!"
"I have so many stories from working directly with craftspeople in India for over 30 years. This talk will take you on a journey from the backstreets of Old Delhi to the far flung deserts of Rajasthan. I'll be focusing on the women I've befriended - it is bound to throw up many a happy, and sometimes disastrous, memory!
This is also a great opportunity to see and handle some of my own personal collection of Indian textiles and embroideries." Although these talks are free we do ask for cash donations for our 2 charitable funds; The India Food Truck Fund and Hildenborough "Forget - Me - Not" Dementia Café.
